Icelandic Greens

Seemingly endless expanses of moss under perpetually grey skies, often interrupted by outcrops of black basalt, occasionally by cushions of leafy dwarf plants. Drizzle and wind. A young landscape of straight streams and creeping soil, with no evidence of glaciation, built by volcanic eruptions that are mostly younger than ten thousand years. These are the highlands of southern Iceland.
