Nordic Noir

These are images from Iceland and from the Faroe Islands, where the darkness of the North Atlantic climate is a persistent companion. Pytheas of Massilia may have visited these latitudes twenty five centuries ago, but these lands were not settled until little more than a thousand years ago. Not too long afterwards, the descendants of some of those first Norse settlers went on to become the first Europeans to set foot on the New World.
